What is a Clinical Assessor?
Clinical Assessors, often referred to as Disability Assessors or PIP Assessors, use their clinical expertise to evaluate individuals with long-term health conditions. We conduct both telephone and face-to-face assessments to assess how these conditions impact daily living. Our detailed reports help inform DWP decisions.

Medacs Health Assessment Services has been successfully conducting Personal Independent Payment (PIP) assessments in the North of England since 2013. We are proud to be involved in the implementation of a new Functional Assessment Services contract on behalf of the UK Department for Work and Pensions. This contract involves the delivery of over 3.5 million health and disability assessments nationwide over a 5-year period, and will result in an expansion of our own services in the Northeast and Yorkshire.
Led by experienced commercial and quality focused senior leaders, Medacs Health Assessment Services is supported by a highly skilled team of operational and clinical colleagues. Our clinical assessors are Registered Adult Nurses, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Paramedics, all of whom play a crucial role in conducting comprehensive health disability assessments to support the Department for Work and Pensions.

Who We're Looking For:
We welcome experienced healthcare professionals who are living in the UK and can provide evidence of a UK Right to work, have at least one year of recent clinical experience.
We have hybrid work available and would love to hear from the following healthcare professionals:
- Registered Nurses / Registered Adult Nurses (RN, RGN)
- Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN)
- Learning Disability Nurses (RNLD)
- Occupational Therapists (OT)
- Physiotherapists
- Paramedics
What does a Clinical Assessor do?
Qualifications for Clinical, Disability and PIP Assessor jobs
If you’re a registered nurse (RNs, RGNs, RMNs and RNLD), physiotherapist, occupational therapist or paramedic, working as a Clinical Assessor is perfect for you.
Our team of clinical assessors are already qualified medical professionals from a wide range of professions, who have up-to-date medical knowledge, are interested in functional assessor roles, and are perhaps looking for a different way of working.
We would love to speak to those healthcare professionals with previous experience of assessing and/or report writing, although full training will be provided.
Am I a good fit for a role as a Clinical Assessor?
To apply for one of our Clinical Assessor Jobs/ Disability Assessor Jobs/ PIP assessor jobs, you will need:
- At least one year of post-registration experience
- A current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) licence with no restrictions on your practising
- Strong IT skills
Full training on how to become a clinical assessor will be provided, and you’ll be able to claim a refund on your NMC or HCPC fee once you have passed your probation.
